Meet your tutor, Tammi Scheetz!

I am excited about the possibility of getting to tutor your child. I’m passionate about teaching students who struggle to read and write.  I’ve been teaching for over 10 years and have a Master’s degree in Reading Education. I hold an Arizona teaching certificate for K-8 elementary education and mild/moderate special education K-12.  I also was trained by Ron Yoshimoto in the Orton-Gillingham multisensory structured language program.  This training was life changing for my teaching approach.  It gave me the tools I need to help provide kids and parents hope and confidence that they truly can learn to become better readers and writers. Check out my About page for more details.

Steps to Literacy Success

Diagnostic Assessments

I will meet with students to learn about their strengths and weaknesses.  I use assessments to help pinpoint the skills your child needs. This data will help us develop specific learning goals.

Individual Literacy Plan

Collaborating with the parent and student, I will create a structured literacy learning plan that will be specific to the needs of your child.

Explicit Weekly Lessons

Weekly 1:1 explicit, systematic and multisensory tutoring sessions will be based on your child’s unique learning needs.  The Orton-Gillingham multisensory structured language program will be one of the many tools used to help reach the student’s goals.
